Today at IDFA a major new partnership was announced at a panel dedicated to the discussion of new funding. The Bertha Foundation is investing in BRITDOC's future, joining the Board of Directors and launching two new funds worth £1.5 million to filmmakers over the next three years. At the outset, Steve James’s award-winning The Interrupters and Soniya Kirpalani’s We The People are the first projects to receive support.

Guido Convents

Tot grote verwondering kreeg de film journalist en historicus Guido Convents in 2006 van Portugese journalisten te horen dat er in Mozambique geen filmcultuur noch film productie van betekenis was en is. Ook in de Belgische filmwereld bleek niemand een idee te hebben van wat onder film in Mozambique diende begrepen te worden.

Boekvoorstelling Filmcultuur in Mozambique

In Mozambique bestaat er een onafhankelijke audiovisuele productie. Het is het resultaat van een tientallen jaren oude filmcultuur. Deze productie is belangrijk voor de maatschappelijke ontwikkeling van het land. Dit werd duidelijk door de studie IMAGENS & REALIDADE. Bovendien is de audiovisuele voor de ontwikkeling van een jonge ‘industrietak’ waarin ook de nieuwe technologieën en plaatselijke creativiteit essentieel zijn van wezenlijk belang.

Presentation of 'Film culture in Mozambique' (Brussels)

There is an independent audiovisual production in Mozambique. It is the result of a film culture that has grown for many years. This production is important for the socio-cultural development, as demonstrated by the essay Imagens& Realidade. Moreover, it is the development of a new industry, in which new technologies and local creativity are essential.
