Werkbeurs - Science Fraud in Flanders

One in twelve medical scientists in Flanders admits to making up or ‘massaging’ data in order for it to match a hypothesis. And almost six in twelve see such fraudulent practices happening around them. They identify high publication pressure as one of the causes.

 

Nieuws - The Pascal Decroos Fund conducts a study on ‘Deterrence of fraud with EU-Funds through investigative journalism in EU-27’

The European Parliament (The Committee on Budgetary Control) has assigned the Belgian Pascal Decroos Fund to conduct an investigation on ‘Deterrence of fraud with EU-Funds through investigative journalism in EU-27’. The team of Pascal Decroos Fund was granted the study through an open tender held in November 2011.

ANTWERPEN/LEUVEN - Het Europese beleidsniveau krijgt in de Vlaamse TV-journaals gemiddeld een half uur aandacht per maand. Dat blijkt uit onderzoek van de Universiteit Antwerpen en de Universiteit Leuven dat 1.656 nieuwsitems over de Europese Unie uit 5.565 TV-journaals onderzocht tussen 2003 en 2010.

AMSTERDAM - Ten, even five years ago, the use of data as a basis for reporting was difficult and costly, requiring IT skills far beyond what is common in media. Databases were used mainly by investigative journalists, whilst editors and reporters usually relied on information provided by outside sources.
