Global Investigative Journalism Conference 2013 (Brazil)

Abraji/Brazil is willing to do the next global conference in 2013 in October in conjunction with their conference and a Latin American conference. Abraji has been a member since the GIJN was formed. For their national conference this year they had 800 participants.

 

News - 2011 Daniel Pearl Awards Winners Announced

KIEV/WASHINGTON - The awards honor the slain Wall St. Journal reporter and celebrate the best in cross-border investigative reporting. This year’s biennial competition attracted 70 entries from 30 countries. An international panel of five judges selected seven finalists, from which they chose one U.S. winner, one international winner, and a Special Citation.

Van donderdag 13 tot en met zondag 16 oktober 2011 huisde Kiev de wereldconferentie onderzoeksjournalistiek. Het programma stond bol van actuele thema’s als klokkenluiders en Wikileaks, maar omvatte ook praktische journalistieke technieken en trainingen. Van deze zevende editie van de GIJC deed VVOJ-directeur Margo Smit verslag.

As independent journalism declines in Latvia and Lithuania, two investigative journalists in Latvia, Inga Springe and Arta Giga, launched the first-ever non-profit investigative center in the Baltics.
