Hyperlocal Newsroom Conclave (NYU)
NEW YORK - The Hyperlocal Newsroom Summer Conclave is a one-and-a-half day opportunity to think through some of the major issues facing hyperlocal sites, captured in these three words: Community, Money, Tools.
With sponsorship from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, the event is being held the evening of July 8 and all day July 9, 2011 as part of the NYU Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute’s Hyperlocal Newsroom Academy, a summer initiative to engage, teach and inspire young journalists and excite them about these new community constructs.
The academy’s centerpiece is the NYU-NYTimes.com The Local East Village, NYU’s local community news and information site and its hyperlocal innovation laboratory.
The format is “anti-panel,” starting on Friday night, July 8, with cocktails and a welcome by Jeff Jarvis and ending with Jay Rosen leading the wrap on Saturday after the day’s work. In between will be these discussion prompters and many more.
