Conference: Creative Media Days (Ghent & Brussels)
GHENT/BRUSSELS - In the last decade, we’ve witnessed huge shifts in the media landscape. Consumption, production and distribution were all affected by the widespread adoption of new technology and the increasing importance of online models.
But in the midst of the pressure to find new business models or to define ways to cope with changing consumption patterns and advertising income, we sometimes forget that ‘new media’ and ICT have enabled a multitude of new creative possibilities. New and old media companies are introducing new services and applications to the public at a scorching pace, never before was the pace of innovation this high. The decrease in time-to-market was aided by the emergence of platforms like Google Maps, Europeana, DBPedia, …. that serve as building blocks for application builders. It has also become easier and easier, technically, to combine media into cross- or transmedia concepts. The time it takes to go from idea to realization has been reduced to a minimum.
The Creative Media Days investigate the role of ICT innovation in media, focusing on the creative possibilities and the emergence of new business models. During a series of conferences and workshops, we will look into new business models, innovative technology and emerging platforms and applications. The idea is to combine multiple and diverse events attracting an audience that, though focused on a specific field of interest, also gets the opportunity to network with and learn from experts in other domains.
We are at a crossroads, where technology innovation, content innovation and business innovation need to be interact and be combined. The conference week will bring together stakeholders and innovators from different backgrounds: entrepreneurs, researchers, creative people and policy makers for a week of inspiration and insights.
Where & when?
The first week is held at the International Convention Center (ICC) Ghent, Belgium. Conferences in the week of November 12 are held on several locations in Brussels.
