Nieuws - Data Harvest: 6-8 May, Brussels
Come to the Data Harvest conference in Brussels on May 6th-8th 2012. Get freshly harvested Farmsubsidy.org data, meet the most interesting journalists in the field of data journalism and visualisation, freedom of information, visualisation and cross-border reporting.
Journalismfund.eu, Wobbing.eu and Farmsubsidy.org organise this conference for journalists to learn from each other, share and develop our best methods, make contacts and develop stories together.
This year we have several tracks:
The Farmsubsidy track
Develop a unique story for your target group about the CAP. The farmsubsidy team will be there to help you find your way through the CAP. Data experts will help you find your story in the freshly published figures about the beneficiaries of the CAP and who gets the annual € 60 billion.
Meet Jack Thurston, Nils Mulvad, Brigitte Alfter.
The journalism lab
Do you have an idea or some data, but find it difficult to get going with a European story? Come to the journalism lab and meet experienced cross-border reporters, meet programmers to help you scrape the data or crack the code, meet colleagues who can help you overcome the additional challenges of cross- border reporting like setting up a team, communication, funding. Come and build your network here.
Meet Stefan Candea, Friedrich Lindenberg, Brigitte Alfter.
Wobbing track
Freedom of information legislation is an excellent tool to obtain credible information including data. When journalists use this method, we call it wobbing. Meet some of Europe’s most experienced Wob-journalists from various countries and hear about their best methods – or start cooperating with them on a story of your interest.
Meet Brenno de Winter, Staffan Dahllöf, Per Anders Johansen (tbc).
Get the tools
Some of Europe’s most experienced journalists and programmers in the fields of data journalism, freedom of information and visualisation will be here to do training, share their experiences and network. The common interest is to follow European money, analyse European data and get European stories going.
Meet Paul Myers, Duncan Campbell, Nils Mulvad, Tommy Kaas, Annamarie Cumiskey (tbc) and many others.
The conference is organised by Journalismfund.eu, Wobbing.eu and Farmsubsidy.org in cooperation. The mutual aim is to improve coverage of Europe by sharing methods, data and by doing research together.
