Nieuws - Zoekmachine voor WikiLeaks-documenten

UTRECHT - Dankzij een nieuwe zoekmachine zijn de ambassadeberichten die door WikiLeaks worden gepubliceerd nu simpel en snel te doorzoeken, onder andere op trefwoord. Cablesearch heet de tool, ontwikkeld door zoekexpert Henk van Ess (onder de vlag van de European Center of Computer Assisted Reporting en de VVOJ). Doorzoeken kan verder onder meer ook aan de hand van populariteit, bron, tag of datum. De WikiLeaks-site zelf heeft steeds meer moeite om in de lucht te blijven. (Bron: VVOJ)

WORLD - Journalists from every region of the world have joined together to support the whistle-blowing organization Wikileaks and its founder Julian Assange who, they say, have provided an extraordinary resource for journalists around the world and made "an outstanding contribution to transparency and accountability on the Afghanistan and Iraq Wars".

BRUSSELS - In the far East and far West of the EU two journalists work on the same story about scam marriages. Thanks to a grant from Journalismfund.eu they could cooperate and uncovered a world where fraud, sexual exploitation and rape are commonplace. The scam bases the EU rules on free movement and legal loopholes. >>


Nieuws - Website on Press Freedom Launched in Hungary

VIENNA - The South and East Europe Media Organisation (SEEMO), a network of editors, media executives and leading journalists in South East and Central Europe and an affiliate of the International Press Institute (IPI), has launched a specialized website dedicated to press freedom-related developments in Hungary. The Budapest-based Center for Independent Journalism, a member of the South East European Network for Professionalization of Media, is SEEMO´s partner in this project.
