BOULDER - The CSIS Transatlantic Media Network and the Center for Environmental Journalism at the University of Colorado will host the first annual U.S.-European Environmental Journalists' Summit in Boulder, from November 12th to 15th, 2008. 

HELSINKI - The Foreign Reporting, organised by the University of  Helsinki course is a theoretical and practical course for local or international students, aimed at providing them with the conceptual framework and the practical skills needed to work as a foreign reporter on assignment. The course puts emphasis on multiculturality, ethnicity, cultural minorities and international journalism. It lasts from 5th of January to 30th of March 2009. 

MUNICH - MUNICH INTERNATIONAL has announced the call for entries for next year's short film festival, which takes place directly prior to the "big" Munich Filmfest. Starting on Thursday, June 18th until Wednesday, June 24, 2009, the festival will showcase the world's best contemporary short films each night at the tradition-steeped Gloria Filmpalast in the heart of the Bavarian capitol. 

MIAMI - The Knight News Challenge, a contest by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, gives away $5 million in 2009 to support smart, innovative solutions to inform and inspire communities. (source: www.newschallenge.org)

DEINZE - Op vrijdag 24 oktober 2008 is in Deinze de 10de Prijs Filip Decock uitgereikt. Naast de hoofdprijs van de Stichting Filip Decock is er ook een aanmoedigingsprijs van de stad Deinze toegekend. De Stichting Filip Decock is op een bijzondere manier actief op het gebied van ontwikkelingssamenwerking. Het hoofddoel van de stichting is het organiseren van een tweejaarlijkse wedstrijd waarbij een vernieuwende journalistieke bijdrage wordt bekroond. De stichting is genoemd naar de te vroeg overleden BRTN-journalist Filip Decock (1954-1988).

BRUSSEL - De impact van de media op het dagelijks leven valt niet te onderschatten. Maar de media heeft ook zelf te kampen met een maatschappelijke evolutie. Steeds vaker staan de klassieke businessmodellen onder druk en trachten mediaconcerns hun strategieën bij te sturen. Hoe gaan redacties, marketeers en vertegenwoordigers met die veranderingen om? Hoe beïnvloeden de evoluties hun werking?

BRUSSEL - Als het aan het Belgische Fonds Pascaal Decroos, een steunfonds voor onderzoeksjournalistiek, ligt, is er over niet al te lange tijd een Europees stimuleringsfonds.
