Joop Bouma (1954) is a Dutch investigative journalist.

Among other things, he investigated the influence of the tobacco industry on the Dutch government and wrote a book about it (Het Rookgordijn) in 2001.

Bouma has been closely following the marketing activities of the pharmaceutical industry in the Netherlands for years. In 2006 he published 'Slikken' (How sick is the pharmaceutical industry?'. Since then, he has frequently been asked to speak at medical conferences and refresher courses for general practitioners, pharmacists and specialists.

Since 2001, Joop Bouma has been a member of the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) in Washington, an alliance of 100 journalists from 50 countries. He is one of the founding members of the VVOJ.

Joop Bouma previously worked for regional newspapers in Ede, Arnhem and Leeuwarden. At Trouw he was environment editor, justice reporter, editor-in-chief and head of the news service.
