BRUSSELS - The outgoing Belgian finance minister, Didier Reynders, has secured eight secret contracts with tobacco manufacturers to fund the Rodin Foundation's anti-smoking campaigns.

Not only does this run counter to the policy of his colleagues responsible for public health, but the World Health Organisation also strongly rejects such initiatives.

With the support of the Pascal Decroos Fund, Marleen Teugels investigated the ways in which the tobacco industry proactively influences tobacco prevention in Belgium.

The Rodin Foundation threatened legal action if Knack were to publish Marleen Teugels’ article.
