MARIUPOL - The Sea of Azov is the shallowest sea in the world. The entire region around the sea has been a battleground for centuries.
Russia and Ukraine share control over the Sea of Azov. In 2003, both countries reached an agreement about 'free navigation' for all.
However, since the Russian invasion at the end of February, the sea has been completely off limits.
And in fact, Russia was able to secretly annex the sea in recent years. How could that happen and what are the consequences?
Was the invasion of Ukraine actually written in the stars here? Robbe Vandegehuchte went to the Sea of Azov, just before the invastion, in search of signs of impending doom.
