Louisiana Mees-Fongang is a Belgian author and filmmaker.

She studied at the KASK (the Royal Academy of Fine Arts) in Belgium and made her mark in both fiction and documentary.

With an astute eye, Mees-Fongang focuses her research on the complex dynamics manifested in young people who are uprooted, wandering unguided, disconnected, or struggling with uncertainties about their future, a tumultuous dance driven by social backgrounds or socio-political motivations.

With her humanitarian and poetic utterances, always realized with a touch of humor and surrealism, she invites the viewer to reflect on the deep-seated complexities of uprooted youth.

The short film "Waithood" crowned itself with praise and honor in 2018 by receiving the prestigious VAF Wildcard for fiction from the Flemish Audiovisual Fund. The fall of 2023 marked a new chapter in Mees-Fongang's artistic journey with the unveiling of her feature film "How Do You Spell Home?" which will have its world premiere at the authoritative IDFA 2023. Next in the series, her third short film 'Fikri' will have its premiere at the Leuven 2023 International Short Film Festival, while her fourth creation, 'Igor, where is Igor?' is still incubating in the oven.
