Handboek voor Onderzoeksjournalisten
© Anne Van Hootegem

AMSTERDAM / BRUSSELS - The official handbook of the Dutch-Flemish Association of Investigative Journalists covers the internationally renowned Story-Based Inquiry method, which is a quick and efficient way to organise and conduct journalistic research. The authors also discuss the social, psychological, legal, financial, ethical and societal aspects of investigative journalism around this method.

This book contains a wealth of practical tips, concrete step-by-step plans, useful checklists and illustrative examples from the Flemish and Dutch media. Much of the advice has never been written down or published before. The authors are practising investigative journalists or are otherwise involved in the day-to-day work of investigative journalism. Most of them also have teaching experience.

Novice investigative journalists can use the book as a guide and experienced investigators can use it as a reference work. Although this book is aimed primarily at journalists, the advice is useful for anyone looking for reliable facts for work or study, such as researchers, company employees, public organisation employees, NGO employees, activists, and inquisitive citizens.
