SARAJEVO - Thirty years after the start of the civil war, Bosnia and Herzegovina is once again in troubled waters. The fragile balance between Bosniaks, Serbs and Croat Bosnians risks being disrupted by political instability.

Serbian nationalists stoke ethnic hatred and say they want to split the country. Many young Bosnians are fed up with political instability and ethnic division. Fearing another war, they are leaving the country en masse. "I want to feel safe in my own country" says Nadja Si, a young DJ from Sarajevo. The older generation is staying behind and is trying to change politics in Bosnia and Herzegovina with protests. "All I wish for the rest of my life is to watch young people lead this country forward," says Azra Zornic, a retired woman who is on the barricades every week. In the run-up to one of the most important elections in decades, nerves are on edge in the country.
