BAGDAD - Climate change is causing an exodus in Iraq of farmers whose land is drying up. They are moving with their water buffaloes or selling their livestock. The government does not know how to deal with climate migration, environmentalists are threatened and even kidnapped.

Iraq is one of the countries most affected by climate change, according to the UN. Rivers, lakes and swamps are drying up, while temperatures are reaching new heat records. As a result, farmers can no longer cultivate their parched land and there is insufficient feed for their livestock, so they decide to resettle elsewhere in the country. How many are they? Where are they coming from and where are they going? And how will they be received there?
