Caroline Van Gastel is a Belgian documentary maker and reporter.

Caroline van Gastel started her acting career in the Netherlands and Belgium and developed her work on an international level with theatre workshops, direction and production. In September 2004 she gave a workshop in a village school in Mirik, West Bengal. The Indian children asked her to bring video messages for the children in Europe. "India Meets Spain in Belgium" became her first project as a videomaker.  She met Saar Van Eyck in 2005 and together they made a series of interactive video projects with children, adolescents and young adults. The goal of these video projects was to learn to understand each other better beyond the boundaries of their own world. From culture to culture. In 2010, after several interactive projects with young people in Northern and Eastern Morocco, Caroline and Saar made a reportage about the position of women in Northern Morocco. "Straffe Thee" ("Thé Corsé") was broadcasted on TV5 Monde and TV Afrique in 2012.  This was followed by "Swingende berichten" and "My House" for the Dutch national broadcaster VPRO. In 2017 the documentary "Het Oog van de Gazelle" ("L'Oeil de la Gazelle") was broadcasted on TV5 Monde Afrique and on 8 March 2018, International Women's Day, on the Belgian public broadcaster RTBF La Trois. This film is about what it means to become an unmarried mother in Moroccan society.
